Insights Incite

Insights Incite is a series of paintings depicting the summary of a span of  years in which I suffered and struggled to overcome a mental illness. I cherry picked moments from this span of time to tell a story. A story which I hope is relatable like a sad song or even a disturbing song and yet the song provides some comfort. Comfort because you can identify and know you are not alone in your struggle, confusion, loneliness or pain. There is a more current self portrait at the end, this pictures me as I am now. Here and present, victorious in my fight to get my mind back to a healthy place.

I am not saying the battle was easy. Also it was my battle and it was tailored specifically to me as yours will be to you. AND!!! It is possible to win it folks! It is hard and the mind is extraordinary. You will need to open your mind to healing, let go of your ego, humble yourself to accept your faults that need fixing and open yourself to being loved. Sounds corny and maybe even trite but that's basically the foundation to begin healing. Obviously, medicine can be mandatory for some and in almost all cases you gotta talk it out to a therapist, priest, elders, family or friends whoever you can let in to help you help yourself. Your commitment is key. "It's a long road to hoe", as my pops would say.

Positivity and humor are your friends people!!!
